Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate, energetic, and dedicated Carestaff members to join our team at an AFC (Adult Family Care) home. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care and support to residents with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, and other memory or mobility challenges. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals
- Administer medications following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safe and accurate medication management
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to residents’ dietary needs and assist with meal service in accordance with safety standards
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning routines, sanitation practices, and adherence to infection control protocols
- Support residents during social activities, outings, or community engagement to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and hospice care practices
- Hands-on experience with assisting individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is essential
- Familiarity with safety procedures such as CPR and First Aid certification is required for emergency response readiness
- Experience operating patient monitoring devices and handling heavy lifting equipment like Hoyer lifts is advantageous
- Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of resident information
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members, residents, families, and healthcare providers
