Cargo Service Representative/Contract (Entry-Level)

Job Summary:

This position will represent Japan Airlines (JAL) in its cargo operations at Los Angeles Int’l Airport by supervising cargo handlers from the cargo handling company to ensure that the loading/unloading of aircraft, customs, documentation, and other cargo handling operations meet all JAL and government regulations, policies and procedures, and that high quality service is delivered for our international cargo customers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supervises entrustment company staff to ensure quality assurance is up to specified standards.
  • Coordinates build up of pallets and containers with entrustment company staff in accordance with cargo regulations.
  • Reconfirms final weights of pallets and containers.
  • Oversees inspections by any related agencies such as Customs and Border Patrol, etc.
  • Inputs final weights into database to plan aircraft loading space allotment.
  • Provides customer service for inquiries regarding outbound/inbound shipments.
  • Creates reports and maintains inventory as necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Passing of Dangerous Goods (DG) Test.
  • Passing of USPS background check.
  • Must be able to obtain airport badge with US Customs clearance
  • Passing of Training stipulated in the Cargo and Mail Training Manual.
  • Must hold a valid US driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain SIDA badge with CBP hologram
  • Passing of TSA Cargo Security Training.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa support available)

Other Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in the air cargo industry preferred
  • Knowledge of TSA, CBP/AMS regulations preferred

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of walking and standing.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally (domestic and international).
  • Must be able to work mornings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions and loud environments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.50 - $26.50 per hour
