Job Description
The Carpentry Trades Supervisor is responsible for providing and supervising craftsman level work in the renovation, maintenance, and repair of complex commercial carpentry systems. This is a leadership role responsible for supervising carpentry staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, ensuring staff are trained, and conducting performance evaluations. The Carpentry Trades Supervisor will also oversee the day-to-day operations of the section to include long range planning, coordinating repairs, assisting with the division budget, and planning and implementing significant building renovation projects.

Essential Duties
  • Ensures employees follow policies and procedures to promote and maintain a healthy and safe working environment
  • Makes hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendation
  • Conducts inspections to determine problems and needed repairs for equipment
  • Assists in determining policies and procedures for the division
  • Receives and process work orders from various County departments
  • Oversees the purchasing for the division to ensure proper equipment is ordered
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Grade
The grade for this position is B32(2). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma AND
  • Up to one year of specialized training in carpentry or construction and seven years of residential and commercial carpentry trades experience, some of which is in a supervisory capacity OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
  • Knowledge of budgetary and computerized maintenance management systems
  • Must have supervisory construction experience
  • Valid driver's license
