Carrier Relations / AP Specialist (Entry Level)

Overview

Looking to break into logistics and build a long-term career in operations? This role is your starting point.

The Carrier Relations / AP Specialist sits at the intersection of carrier relationships, operations, and accounting. You’ll work directly with carriers and internal teams to ensure invoices are accurate, communication is clear, and payments are aligned with operational expectations.

This is not a traditional accounting role. You won’t be processing payments, but you will control the flow of information that determines which carriers get paid and when. That means attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to think like an operator.

If you're organized, resourceful, and comfortable building relationships, this role is designed to grow into a Carrier Sales Manager or Account Coordinator position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for carriers regarding invoices, payments, and general support
  • Communicate with carriers via phone, email, and text to resolve questions and maintain strong relationships
  • Review and prioritize carrier invoices to ensure accuracy and alignment with operational activity
  • Coordinate with the Accounting team to ensure payments are processed correctly and on time
  • Keep detailed notes on carrier communication for visibility and follow-up
  • Maintain and update carrier profiles and data within internal systems (RMIS, TMS, etc.)
  • Vet and onboard new carriers to ensure they meet Sunline’s safety and service standards
  • Partner with the operations teams to stay aligned with active freight and carrier needs
  • Make outbound calls to carriers to build relationships and support network growth
  • Assist in resolving service or payment-related issues quickly and professionally
  • Stay organized across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Support occasional after-hours needs (rare, but part of being in operations)

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Customer-facing experience (retail, hospitality, call center, or similar)
  • Strong communication skills and confidence on the phone
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with data and systems (Excel proficiency required)
  • Resourceful, proactive, and solution-oriented
  • Dependable with a strong sense of ownership
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Willingness to learn the transportation industry and grow within Sunline

Spanish (English/Spanish bilingual) preferred
