Job Title: Substitute Tutor for Elementary School Programs – MUNDO ACADEMY

Location: South LA (110 and 105 or 110 and 91 areas)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our team in a tutoring position. As a School Site Tutor, you will be instructing students in elementary schools throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District in Math, Literacy, English Language Development, and Test Preparation. Mundo will provide all materials, lessons, and training. We are currently seeking candidates to serve in South Los Angeles areas. Currently, we need Tutors to serve as substitutes for the remainder of the school year and possible assignment as permanent tutors in the Fall.

Tutoring assignments will occur on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (and possibly Fridays), from about 12 pm to 4 pm. You could work around 10+ hours per week. Please note we do not have any full-time positions at this time.

This position will start ASAP. This Position is seasonal and only during the academic year. Currently, this position runs through late May. There will be no work during the summer or winter vacations.

Responsibilities:

- Deliver lessons as assigned

- Foster a positive and motivating work environment for students, promoting educational growth

- Maintain effective communication with supervisors, fellow employees, and school staff

- Fill out weekly session reports about students and lesson plan delivery

- Fill out daily attendance reports

- Attend all training and staff meetings

Qualifications:

- Although a college degree is not required, candidates must have some college experience. Either currently attending college or graduated from college.

- Qualified Candidates must pass a Livescan background check

- Must demonstrate a strong desire to mentor students and an ability to inspire high expectations

- Applicants must demonstrate high academic standing and a command of the English language

If hired, you must complete 2 requirements before we can give you a contract.

• A recent TB test (you can go to the doctor and get your results within 3-4 days). A TB Result within the past year is also acceptable. Please be ready to have this done within a week of being hired.
• A Livescan fingerprint. We do not cover the cost of fingerprinting, which runs for approximately $30. We will provide you with the necessary paperwork and locations to visit if you are offered a position.
