Case Manager II – Sisterhood

Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10:00am-6:00pm

Immediate Supervisor: Assistant Director of Housing Coordination

Position Purpose:

Austin Street Center’s vision is to end homelessness among the most vulnerable persons in our area, and women on the streets experience some of the greatest risks. The Sisterhood program exists to stand in the gap, providing women a protective, trauma-informed, and highly supportive environment specializing in care for women living with a serious mental illness and a history of trauma.

We are looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable, engagement superhero who can connect with women in crisis and guide them to the solutions they most deeply want but struggle to find. This person will ensure that daily classes and programming are effective and that their caseload as well as the entire program is successful at ending their homelessness as quickly and permanently as possible, transforming the lives of women in crisis through the magic of sustainable housing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide housing coordination services to an assigned caseload
  • Equip and empower Sisterhood team members to achieve housing goals with their caseloads
  • Document services in the community HMIS system
  • Assist with completing and integrating referrals to the Sisterhood program to ensure maximum continuous occupancy

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or another human services field required.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Previous experience in crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and coordination of services in the area of homeless services highly desired.
  • Ability to lift 25-40 pounds. Tasks may involve bending, lifting, and carrying heavy items.
  • Excellent customer service skills, especially when working with “difficult” customers
  • Ability to teach and train groups of clients for life skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to innovate and embrace best practices in shelter and housing services delivery.
  • Ability to adapt to change

· Demonstrates experience with and sensitivity to varying cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds, values, and attitudes

· Intermediate to advanced familiarity with digital communication, including cloud-based software, e-mail, and Microsoft Office applications.

· Able to work outside in adverse weather conditions when needed.

Additional Experience a Plus:

  • Master’s Degree and/or licensure in human services field, especially in social work
  • At least three years’ previous professional experience in trauma-informed and housing-focused case management is highly desired
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Lived experience with homelessness and/or recovery
  • Training in Housing First, Motivational Interviewing, the Transtheoretical Model of Change, Harm Reduction, and/or Trauma-Informed Care
  • U.S. Military service

Pay: $50,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
