U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), a member of the U.S. Congress, seeks a motivated, organized, and outgoing person to serve as a caseworker in his Santa Cruz, California District Office. This position includes advocating constituent cases with the federal government, in particular the IRS, among other duties, and growth opportunities include potential fieldwork and local community engagement.

Responsibilities:
Caseworker Duties
- Serving as liaison to constituents and federal, state, and city agencies and as a staff representative to Rep. Panetta and district office staff
- Identifying federal cases and contact appropriate agencies on behalf of constituents, with a particular focus IRS cases
- Providing quality customer service by staying in touch with constituents regarding the status of their cases and with a solution-oriented approach
- Documenting status and progress in constituent correspondence and casework management database
- Building relationships with staff of federal, state, and local agencies
- Elevating notable cases, case outcomes, and casework trends
Additional Duties:
- Greeting constituents, visitors, and other VIPs to provide a welcoming environment and a positive first impression of the Congressional office
- Answering and directing incoming calls and constituent inquiries to appropriate staff
- Capturing constituent requests to ensure consideration by the Representative's office
- Maintaining literature regarding the district and House offices to distribute to visitors
- Performing general administrative assignments as assigned to assist the office staff with work
- Providing relevant information to constituents to fulfill their requests
- Assist staff with office duties, including opinion intake, thank you notes, and other areas as assigned.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Prior constituent service or customer relationship management
- Demonstrated interest in public service
- Strong network within the Santa Cruz County community and knowledge of the area
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Driver’s license and vehicle
Additional Notes:
- This position requires occasional weekend hours and hours before or after the start or stop of a conventional workday.
- The constituent liaison duties take place in the Santa Cruz Office, and potential field work will take place in Santa Cruz County, primarily in and around the City Santa Cruz, from Davenport to UCSC to Aptos, and the San Lorenzo Valley (including Boulder Creek and Scotts Valley).
