Description




Boulder County's Department of Human Services, Family and Children's Services Division, is hiring a Caseworker C - Intake Screener. The Intake Hotline Screening Caseworker will perform a variety of complex professional social work duties in areas such as child abuse and neglect, youth-in-conflict, adults unable to protect their own interests, and licensed foster home or facilities. As a lead caseworker the person will support and at times supervise caseworkers with practice and process needs especially when the supervisor is away. The Lead Caseworker also helps with team training and development, participates and supports the team with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work and provides referral report and research feedback.

This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday from 1:30pm - 10pm. this position will work primarily remote or 3460 North Broadway, Boulder, CO. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.


Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $70,428.00 - $85,908.00 Annually


Tentative Hiring Timeline:

  • Phone Screening: January 12th
  • First Round Interviews: January 20th
  • Second Round Interviews: January 26th
  • Language Proficiency Test: February 2nd
  • Reference Check: January 30th


New employees receive an80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

Examples of Duties

  • Conduct professional screening interviews by phone and with reporters of child abuse and neglect, adolescents in need of services and adult protection. Receive and process police, other written or electronic reports
  • Thoroughly and accurately conduct and document all necessary research in computer systems
  • Recognize gaps in information and use additional sources and resources to gather information
  • Practice confidentiality by strict adherence to all applicable statutes and regulations
  • Utilize expertise in child welfare and child protection programs and models, family and community engagement, and the role of community-based prevention services, in-home safety management and out-of-home placements to guide, direct, support and educate callers
  • Utilize expertise in adult protective services, the concepts of least intrusive intervention and self determination, and the role of community based prevention services, in-home care, assisted living, and skilled nursing care to guide, direct, support, and educate callers
  • Utilize expertise in internal and external resources and support that promote self-sufficiency and well-being for children, families, and at-risk adults, and make appropriate referrals
  • Work after hour on call shifts as needed to support agency needs.
  • Recruit and train on call casework screening staff, and manage schedules and performance
  • Process referrals to disposition from review as needed by supervisor
  • Manage the immediate calendar for intake response
  • Work with supervisor to enhance consistency of operations of intake as it applies to referral and screening
  • Perform related work as required
  • May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of

  • A bachelor's degree in human services or related field

AND

  • Two years of professional human services casework experience

Additional related education may count towards required experience.

Supplemental Information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in social work or other human services related field.
  • Customer services experience, demonstrated leadership, and APS and CPS work history.
