Cashier

POSITION PURPOSE:

We are seeking a reliable, polished, and guest-focused individual to join our team as a Cashier at Socialista, Cipriani’s lounge located above the Cipriani restaurant in Soho. The Cashier is responsible for accurately processing guest transactions, supporting service flow, and providing a warm, professional first impression aligned with Cipriani’s standards of hospitality.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, personable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-touch lounge environment where discretion, accuracy, and guest service are essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

• Greet and welcome guests in a courteous, polished, and professional manner.
• Process guest transactions accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
• Handle cash, credit cards, room charges, member charges, and other approved forms of payment in accordance with company policies.
• Ensure all orders, checks, prices, and payment details are entered and closed accurately.
• Communicate clearly with servers, bartenders, hosts, and management to support smooth service operations.
• Confirm guest charges, modifications, and special requests as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional cashier station throughout service.
• Assist with menus, receipts, supplies, and other cashier-related materials as needed.
• Provide gracious and attentive service when responding to guest questions, concerns, or payment-related inquiries.
• Escalate guest concerns or transaction discrepancies to management promptly and professionally.
• Balance cash drawer and reconcile transactions at the end of each shift.
• Follow proper accounting, cash handling, and reporting procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling guest, member, or payment information.
• Follow all company, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Previous cashier, host, receptionist, or guest-facing experience preferred.
• Restaurant, lounge, private club, hospitality, or luxury service experience preferred.
• Experience operating POS systems and handling cash or credit card transactions.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with payments, checks, and reporting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional, polished, and service-oriented demeanor.
• Ability to remain calm and courteous in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with service, bar, host, and management teams.
• Must be available to work late nights, weekends, holidays, and closing shifts as required.
• Commitment to maintaining Cipriani’s standards of service, presentation, and professionalism.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

• Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods during service.
• Ability to operate POS systems, computers, telephones, printers, and related office or restaurant equipment.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally, including supplies, packages, or service-related materials.
• Ability to move throughout the lounge and restaurant as needed.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and organize materials or supplies.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying levels of noise and activity.
