Position Purpose: The Cashier position involves constant contact with the public in day-to-day receipt of
and accounting for all general cash receipts. Incumbents must follow specifically
outlined procedures and performance related work as required.


Essential Functions (list in order of importance, including measures)

  • Process all payment types for the Village of Maywood via walk up window, village drop box and
mailed-in payments.
  • Open mailed-in payments and prepare for entry.
  • Process transactions accurately; free from error.
  • Verify funds received and issue receipts.
  • Balance processed transactions daily.
  • List totals of cash and checks for bank deposits.
  • Maintain and file backups for all transactions.
  • Receive incoming cash/checks in payment of bills and fines levied by the Village.
  • Receives mail for the Finance department and apply checks to the proper accounts.

Marginal Functions (list in order of importance)

  • Performs both essential and marginal job functions in a safe manner as identified by the Village of
Maywood and the respective department while adhering to the village’s confidentiality norms and
standards. Actively and consistently demonstrates the core values of the Village of Maywood in all
interactions with others.

  • Assumes responsibility for knowing and maintaining established Village and departmental objectives,
policies/procedures including general sanitation, safety, environmental and infection control
standards.


General Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Some training beyond high school is preferred. Cashier experience is vital and preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred.
