Position Title: Cashier / Front Counter Associate
Reports To: Store Manager
Position Summary
The Cashier / Front Counter Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while ensuring accurate order processing, cash handling, and front-of-house cleanliness. This position serves as the first point of contact for customers and plays a key role in maintaining an organized, welcoming, and efficient restaurant environment.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Sales
- Greet customers in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Accurately take customer orders in person, over the phone, and through online ordering platforms.
- Answer customer questions regarding menu items, specials, and promotions.
- Ensure every customer receives prompt and courteous service.
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Process all cash, credit card, mobile payment, and gift card transactions accurately.
- Maintain accountability for the cash drawer throughout the shift.
- Balance and reconcile cash drawer at the end of each shift as required.
- Follow all company procedures regarding cash handling and loss prevention.
Online & Delivery Order Management
- Monitor and manage incoming orders from DoorDash and other third-party delivery platforms.
- Verify order accuracy before releasing orders to delivery drivers.
- Confirm customer names, order details, and pickup information with delivery drivers prior to handoff.
- Communicate with kitchen staff regarding delivery order timing and accuracy.
Food Display & Product Presentation
- Maintain a clean, stocked, and visually appealing deli case throughout the shift.
- Refill products and supplies in the deli case as needed.
- Monitor product quality and notify management of low inventory or quality concerns.
Restaurant Cleanliness & Sanitation
- Perform opening and closing cleaning duties, including:
- Sweeping and mopping lobby floors
- Cleaning tables, chairs, counters, and customer service areas
- Sanitizing high-touch surfaces
- Emptying trash receptacles as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front counter and dining area throughout the shift.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
Team Support
- Assist team members during busy periods to ensure efficient operations.
- Communicate effectively with management and kitchen staff regarding customer needs and operational issues.
- Complete additional duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Basic math and cash-handling experience preferred.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light cleaning duties.
- Previous restaurant, deli, retail, or cashier experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, sweep, mop, and perform routine cleaning tasks.
