Department/Division/Section: Retail/Gift Shop
Job Summary/Essential Functions: The Gift Shop Sales Associate is responsible for ensure that our paying guests round out their experience in the Aquarium through purchase of memorable keepsakes and attraction-related products. Associates will operate a POS system for the purpose of sales transactions, while properly handling cash and credit transactions. This position reports to Director of Retail Operations.
Overview
Specific physical responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

Smile and greet every guest.

Accurately complete all sales transactions.

Assist in putting merchandise on the sales floor.

Assist in ticketing merchandise.
-
Accurately count merchandise when needed.

Assist in keeping sales floor neat and clean.
-
Must be available to work scheduled hours in a timely manner.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Ability to bend, stoop, kneel in order to stock shelves and move merchandise on the sales floor.

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred qualifications:

1-3 years experience in retail cashiering or floor/merchandising.

POS/Computer literacy

Prior cash handling experience

Good communicator and team player
Language: Fluent in English
