Cashier Team Members play a crucial customer-facing role, greeting customers, helping to answer their questions, and maintaining a friendly and well-informed presence during checkout. They must uphold our Customer Service policy at all times. They must be able to operate a register with accuracy while connecting with customers in a way that is personable and outgoing, while handling large transaction volumes and focusing on tasks at hand with attention to detail while in a loud, multi-sensory environment. In addition to serving as cashiers, Cashier Team Members perform some stocking and housekeeping duties and help to open and close the market. Chicory market values people who love food and want to build community by getting to know and assisting hundreds of customers per day.
Essential Duties
- Customer Service: Greet customers. facilitate customer loyalty programs, find answers to customer questions, talk about food, build community, and manage friction with flexibility and professionalism. Uphold the Chicory Market Customer Service policy at all times.
- Perform Point of Sale Operations: Process customer transactions with accuracy, noting any price or scancode discrepancies. Minimize errors by following policies. Stay up to date on seasonal specials and inventory changes. Keep track of opening and closing till counts for designated POS station. Bag groceries according to safe handling practices.
- Follow Stocking, Displaying & Merchandising SOPs: Follow Standard Operating Procedures to aid the stocking team in between customers to keep shelves stocked, fronted and faced, clearly labeled, appealing, and accessible to customers.
- Housekeeping and Task Lists: Work with your team to open and close checkout counter, Atrium, and other public areas using Standard Operating Procedures. This work includes sweeping, sanitizing, operating a floor scrubber, cleaning bathrooms, rotating grocery inventory, emptying trash, and otherwise maintaining a clean and safe food space.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand on your feet at least 4.5 hours a day.
- Regularly lift 30 lb boxes; assist in stocking as needed.
- Temperature Tolerance: Some work in both cold (walk-in coolers/freezers) and warm (80-84°F) conditions.
- Ladder Use: Comfortable using 2-3 step ladders throughout the day.

- Pay starts at $12/hour for new retail staff

- Daily feedback from your acting Shift Leader and/or Floor Manager. Check-ins as needed with Floor Managers.
Pay: $12.00 - $17.00 per hour
