Cashier/Customer Service

Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier/Customer Service Associate to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, handle transactions accurately, and contribute to a positive shopping experience. This role involves engaging with customers, managing sales transactions, and supporting store operations to ensure smooth daily functions. Prior experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is preferred, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate POS systems accurately to process customer transactions, including cash handling and credit card payments
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with questions, product locations, and checkout procedures
• Upsell products and promote store specials or product demos to enhance sales opportunities
• Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring products are well-presented
• Perform basic retail math for balancing registers and reconciling sales at the end of shifts
• Assist with inventory management tasks such as stock replenishment and inventory counts
• Ensure the checkout area is clean, organized, and welcoming for customers
• Demonstrate effective phone etiquette when handling inquiries or customer concerns over the phone
• Support supervising staff during busy periods or when needed to ensure efficient store operations
• Engage in bilingual communication if applicable to better serve diverse customer needs

Skills

• Proficiency with POS systems and cash register operations
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
• Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and balancing registers accurately
• Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and active listening
• Ability to upsell products and promote store offerings effectively
• Experience in merchandising, stocking, and retail sales environments such as grocery stores or general retail outlets
• Supervising experience is a plus for leadership roles within the team
• Bilingual abilities are desirable to serve a diverse customer base effectively
• Knowledge of product demos and promotional activities to enhance customer engagement
• Lottery machine experience is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
