Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated, friendly, and versatile Store Associate to join our team. In this role, you are the face of our shop and the heart of our kitchen. You’ll wear many hats—from crafting the perfect custom sandwich at our deli counter to providing a seamless checkout experience at the register. We are a family-oriented store, so we value team members who take pride in their work, recognize our regulars, and help us maintain a welcoming, neighborhood atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

• Customer Relations: Greet customers warmly, assist with inquiries, and provide product demonstrations.
• Point of Sale (POS): Operate the register efficiently, handling cash, credit, and debit transactions with 100% accuracy.
• Upselling: Use your product knowledge to recommend pairings (like a drink or chips with a sandwich) to enhance the customer experience.
• Phone Etiquette: Take phone orders professionally and answer general store questions.

Deli & Food Preparation

• Craft Custom Orders: Prepare made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, and salads with speed and accuracy (think Subway-style assembly with a local touch).
• Safe Food Handling: Operate commercial meat/cheese slicers and kitchen equipment safely. Prep fresh produce and house-made spreads daily.
• Maintain Freshness: Monitor deli case levels and ingredient quality; ensure all food storage meets health and safety standards.
• Cleanliness: Sanitize food prep surfaces, cutting boards, and equipment throughout the shift to maintain a "clinical" level of hygiene.

Store Operations

• Merchandising: Keep shelves stocked, organized, and visually appealing.
• Leadership: Assist in guiding junior staff members and ensuring store standards are met during busy shifts.
• General Upkeep: Help ensure the entire store—not just the deli—is clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times.

Skills & Qualifications

• Versatility: Ability to "pivot" between food prep and cashier duties based on customer flow.
• Customer Focus: Strong communication skills with a focus on creating positive, memorable experiences.
• Kitchen Confidence: Previous experience in a deli or fast-food environment (like Subway) is a major plus.
• Math & Tech: Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and proficiency with POS systems.
• Safety First: Comfortable using sharp kitchen tools and heavy machinery with extreme care.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
