Cashiering Specialist
Job Summary
The Cashiering Specialist is responsible for processing checks, managing policy-related financial transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role ensures the timely, compliant handling of funds while supporting policy administration and delivering high-quality service to policyholders, agents, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process incoming and outgoing checks
- Accurately apply payments to policyholder accounts and reconcile discrepancies
- Maintain accurate deposit records and support daily reconciliation reviews
- Resolve items held due to NIGO (Not in Good Order) check issues in accordance with compliance guidelines
- Assist with the review of annuity applications and related transactions
- Investigate and resolve payment issues, including misapplied funds and returned payments
- Coordinate with internal and external policy administration teams
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support month-end data entry in the Supe Central tracking system, as well as seasonal and year-end financial close activities
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive customer and financial information
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in cashiering, accounts receivable, or insurance operations
- Experience in life insurance or financial services strongly preferred
- Familiarity with premium billing or policy administration systems is a plus
Skills & Competencies
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Solid understanding of cash application and reconciliation processes
- Knowledge of life insurance products (e.g., term, whole life, annuities) is a plus
- Ability to manage high transaction volumes while meeting tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
