To meet the needs of our store, our part-time position requires a set 23 hours per week schedule to be determined. Our store operates Monday through Saturday 9am-7pm and Sunday 11am-6pm.

Eligible for part time benefits first of the month following 60 full calendar days of successful continuous employment.

As a Cashier/Retail Sales Floor Associate, you will be stationed primarily at the sales counter making sales as a cashier. You'll also work closely with other team members to provide customers with a positive shopping experience at our store in alignment with the mission of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. You would interact with customers by determining their needs, answering their questions about our merchandise, and making sales with a smile while maintaining a tidy, stocked and organized counter and when directed, help on the sales floor. You will also be out on the sales floor and also cross trained in other departments to assist other team members when needed in order to stay productive when no customers at the register.

As well as working as cashier, based on the staffing needs and goals for the store, you may be asked to work the sales floor; straighten, stock or pull items; assist at the donation door or create new displays. It's a fun opportunity to gain retail experience in a thrift store environment or use your prior cashier experience.

Education and Experience

· High School or equivalent education (GED) required

· Proficient Reading and Math skills for retail sales transactions (counting currency/change)

· English proficiency is required; bilingual is a plus

· Previous experience working in retail or as a cashier is a PLUS, but will train

- RELIABILITY with exceptional attendance and good customer service skills

· High level of professionalism and confidentiality when interacting with team members and store customers

· Ability to remain calm and focused during stressful situations and smile often and avoid conflict

- Ability to physically perform the key functions of the position

-Successfully pass a background check

- Must have reliable access to transportation to work

This is a physical, on your feet type of job! The employee is continuously standing and walking; and frequently bending and twisting; reaching above shoulders with hands and arms; possibility of pushing/pulling carts and lifting merchandise and objects up to 25-40 lbs. The employee must be able to count accurately and distinguish color tags. Consistent, reliable attendance is a Must!!
