Cashier/Server

Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cashier/Server to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced food service environment at authentic Jamaican restaurant. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for food industry operations, customer service, and retail math. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests while managing cashiering duties and supporting food preparation and serving functions. Prior restaurant or café experience is preferred, along with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.

Duties

• Greet customers warmly and take their orders accurately using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS.
• Handle cash transactions, process payments, and give correct change while maintaining accuracy in cash handling and basic math calculations.
• Serve food and beverages promptly, ensuring proper food handling, sanitation, and safety standards are followed.
• Assist with food preparation, including basic kitchen tasks and food safety compliance.
• Upsell menu items to enhance customer experience and increase sales through effective suggestive selling techniques.
• Clear tables if needed and assist with general sanitation to maintain a clean dining environment.
• Support food industry operations by managing order accuracy, timing, and customer satisfaction during service hours.
• Engage with customers to provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries or concerns professionally.
• Assist in other restaurant functions such as cleaning service area and restroom etc or stocking supplies as needed.

Requirements

• Must be able to legally work in the US.
• Must be able to communicate in English.
• Previous experience in food service, quick service & fast-food restaurants, or retail environments such as grocery stores or cafés is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with POS systems is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
• Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy hours.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse guests.
• Basic math skills for cash handling, sales transactions, and retail math calculations.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism.
• Flexibility to work during peak hours including weekends or holidays if required; however, this role primarily involves serving shifts that focus on customer engagement during operational hours. This position offers an engaging work environment where team members can develop their skills in food service, cashiering, sales techniques such as upselling, and customer relations—all within a supportive team setting focused on delivering memorable guest experiences.
