We are currently seeking a Casualty Claims Specialist to manage high-severity, litigated casualty claims involving construction defect, general liability bodily injury, and property damage exposures. This role will focus on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters with significant financial impact and strategic importance.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of complex, severe, litigated construction defect and general liability bodily injury and property damage claims.
  • Evaluate and assess risk exposure in excess of $100M USD, establishing appropriate reserving strategies and resolution plans.
  • Lead claim strategy development in partnership with Underwriting, Risk Engineering, Legal, and external counsel to drive favorable outcomes.
  • Direct outside counsel, forensic experts, and specialty vendors in high-exposure and catastrophe-related claims.
  • Proactively resolve large losses through early risk assessment, advanced analytics, AI-supported modeling tools, and coordinated litigation management.
  • Navigate multi-jurisdictional litigation environments, including complex venue, contractual indemnification, and coverage considerations.
  • Analyze policy language across standard and manuscript forms, independently identifying and addressing coverage issues.
  • Represent the company in mediations, settlement conferences, arbitrations, and court proceedings as necessary.
  • Develop and execute global claim resolution strategies for multinational clients in coordination with international partners.
  • Innovate and pilot new claims tools and business processes in collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and insight.
  • Identify subrogation and recovery opportunities to reduce loss exposure.
  • Provide clear, timely reporting to senior management on high-severity matters and emerging trends.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Deep expertise in complex casualty claims handling, particularly construction defect and severe general liability losses.
  • Strong understanding of catastrophic loss management and large-scale litigation strategy.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to evaluate significant financial exposure and coverage implications.
  • Experience managing claims involving layered insurance programs and excess placements.
  • Familiarity with AI-based claims analytics, litigation technology platforms, and data-driven reserving methodologies.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and comfort operating in high-stakes mediation environments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across underwriting, legal, actuarial, and risk engineering functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with executive-level presence.
  • Strategic mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to large loss resolution.

Additional Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 4+ years of complex casualty claims experience, including litigated construction defect and large general liability exposures.
  • Demonstrated experience managing claims with exposure exceeding $25M USD; experience with $100M+ exposures preferred.
  • Experience handling multi-jurisdictional and multinational claims environments preferred.
  • State adjuster licenses required or willingness to obtain and maintain.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for mediations, client meetings, catastrophe response, or court proceedings.

Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $100,000-$120,000 plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and geographic location.
