Category Manager

Role Purpose

The Category Manager – D2C will be responsible for driving category sales, profitability, and customer experience on the brand’s direct-to-consumer platforms. Reporting to the D2C Growth & Performance Associate, the role will manage product assortment, pricing, promotions, and on-site merchandising while analyzing performance data to identify growth opportunities and ensure optimal product visibility, availability, and conversion.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Category Strategy & P&L Ownership
- Own category revenue, margins, and contribution
- Define pricing architecture and discount guardrails
- Ensure profitable growth and promotion ROI

2. Assortment & SKU Lifecycle Management
- Decide SKU launches, delists, pack sizes, and rationalization
- Identify hero, core, and filler SKUs
- Plan city-wise assortment (starting with Surat)

3. D2C Pack & Subscription Strategy
- Design trial packs, family packs, and subscription SKUs
- Create bundles and refill-based offerings

4. Demand Forecasting & Inventory Control
- Own SKU-level forecasting
- Coordinate with manufacturing, cold storage, and supply chain
- Minimize expiry loss and dead stock

5. Growth & Retention Collaboration
- Work with CRM (CleverTap) for cross-sell, upsell, and retention
- Improve AOV, repeat rate, and lifetime value

6. Performance Reviews & Insights
- Conduct weekly and monthly category reviews
- Track SKU velocity, margins, repeat behavior, and inventory turns

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :

- Category revenue growth
- Gross margin percentage
- Average order value (AOV) contribution
- Repeat purchase rate
- Inventory turnover
- Promotion ROI

Key Requirements:

- 4–8 years of experience in FMCG / D2C category management
- Strong understanding of pricing, assortment, and inventory planning
- Experience in food, grocery, or staples preferred
- Data-driven mindset with cross-functional collaboration skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
