Russell Barbecue is a family-run craft barbecue restaurant serving Texas-style, cut-to-order BBQ in a renovated downtown Sheffield. We’re community-focused, hospitality-first, and serious about doing things the right way.
The Role (What you’re really owning)
This position is for someone who’s sales + marketing minded and loves building relationships and creating online engagement. Your main mission is to grow catering—by managing inbound leads, generating new catering opportunities in the community, and keeping our marketing/content consistent and interactive.
Key Responsibilities
1) Catering Lead Management
- Respond to catering inquiries quickly (same-day whenever possible)
- Qualify leads (headcount, date/time, budget, delivery/pickup, menu needs)
- Create quotes and send invoices
- Confirm details and coordinate internally so execution is smooth
- Deliver order to customers or coordinate delivery with another team member
- Follow up on invoices and payments
- Track catering leads from first message → booked → completed → follow-up
2) Catering Sales / Outreach
- Proactively visit and contact local businesses, schools, churches, plants, offices, and event venues
- Build relationships with decision-makers (office managers, admins, event planners, coaches, etc.)
- Generate new catering opportunities through community presence and consistent follow-up
- Represent Russell Barbecue at local events and networking opportunities when needed
3) Marketing & Social Content
- Help plan and create social media content (photo/video on phone is perfect)
- Write/assist with captions and calls-to-action that drive catering + in-store sales
- Help execute simple marketing plans (promos, partnerships, community outreach)
- Collect testimonials/reviews and “catering wins” we can post
What We’re Looking For
- Friendly, professional, and confident communicator (in person, phone, and messages)
- Organized and reliable (you follow up, you close loops, you don’t drop leads)
- Sales-oriented: you like goals, outreach, and turning interest into booked orders
- Comfortable working independently (especially on the marketing/remote/admin side)
- Reliable transportation and willingness to visit local businesses/events
- Basic tech skills (email, spreadsheets, social apps; learning our process quickly)
Nice-to-Haves
- Catering / restaurant / hospitality experience
- B2B sales or community partnership experience
- Basic content creation skills (Canva, simple video edits, etc.—not required)
Success Metrics (How we’ll know it’s working)
- Faster response time to leads
- More leads generated weekly through outreach
- Higher catering bookings month over month
- Clean pipeline tracking (no “lost” leads)
- Consistent content tied to catering and sales goals
Compensation Structure
- Base: $10-12/hour
- Commission: % of booked catering revenue plus bonuses based on event sizes
Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 15.0 per week
