Job Summary:

The Cath Lab In-Charge / Head is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow. This role involves managing staff, coordinating procedures, maintaining equipment, implementing policies, and ensuring safety standards are met. The Cath Lab Head also collaborates with cardiologists, nurses, and technicians to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Management

  • Supervise the overall functioning of the Cath Lab to ensure smooth operations.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Cath Lab.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state, and federal regulations (e.g., JCI, NABH, AHA guidelines).
  • Monitor and improve workflow efficiency for patient procedures.
  • Coordinate with other departments (ICU, radiology, surgery, etc.) for seamless patient care.

2. Staff Leadership & Training

  • Lead and manage a team of nurses, technicians, and other Cath Lab personnel.
  • Schedule and assign duties to ensure optimal staffing levels.
  • Provide training and mentorship to staff on new procedures and equipment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend necessary professional development.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.

3. Patient Care & Safety

  • Ensure high standards of patient safety and care before, during, and after procedures.
  • Oversee infection control measures and maintain a sterile environment.
  • Address patient concerns and ensure proper communication between the team and the patient’s family.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness protocols for complications during procedures.

4. Equipment & Inventory Management

  • Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of Cath Lab equipment (angiography machines, hemodynamic monitoring systems, etc.).
  • Coordinate with the biomedical and engineering teams for repairs and upgrades.
  • Manage inventory of catheters, stents, contrast media, and other supplies to prevent shortages.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and equipment for improved patient outcomes.

5. Financial & Administrative Duties

  • Assist in budget planning and cost management for the Cath Lab.
  • Monitor expenses and suggest cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Prepare and present reports on Cath Lab performance, patient outcomes, and efficiency metrics.
  • Participate in billing and coding processes to ensure accurate documentation.

6. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with medical and safety standards.
  • Implement quality improvement programs for better patient care.
  • Stay updated on advancements in interventional cardiology and integrate best practices.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping for procedures and patient data.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Nursing, Radiology, or Allied Health Sciences (Required).
  • Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration or Cardiology-related field (Preferred).
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Cath Lab Technologist, or Radiologic Technologist Certification (as applicable).
  • ACLS & BLS Certification (Mandatory).

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Cath Lab setting.
  • 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role within an interventional cardiology department.

Key Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Expertise in Cath Lab procedures (angioplasty, stenting, electrophysiology, pacemaker implantation, etc.).
  • Excellent knowledge of radiology equipment, hemodynamics, and interventional techniques.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under high-pressure emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in hospital management software and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Hospital-based Cath Lab setting with exposure to radiation, medical equipment, and emergency situations.
  • Requires long hours, including weekends and on-call duties as per emergency requirements.
  • Physical demands include standing for long hours, assisting in procedures, and handling equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
