CATHLAB NURSE

Job Title: Cath Lab Nurse (Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory)Department: Cardiology / Cath LabReports To: Cath Lab Manager / Cardiology Head

Job Summary

The Cath Lab Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This role involves patient preparation, intra-procedural assistance, post-procedure care, and close collaboration with cardiologists and the cath lab team to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients physically and emotionally for cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures
  • Verify patient identity, consent, medical history, and procedure details
  • Assist cardiologists during procedures such as coronary angiography, angioplasty, stenting, pacemaker insertion, and electrophysiology studies
  • Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols
  • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patient responses
  • Continuously monitor vital signs, ECG, hemodynamics, and oxygen saturation during procedures
  • Recognize and respond promptly to complications or emergencies
  • Assist with contrast administration and radiation safety practices
  • Provide post-procedure care including sheath removal, hemostasis, monitoring for bleeding or complications
  • Educate patients and families on post-procedure care and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation and procedural records
  • Ensure proper functioning and readiness of cath lab equipment and supplies
  • Participate in quality improvement, audits, and continuing education
  • Follow hospital policies, accreditation standards, and safety guidelines (JCI, NABH, AHA, etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (GNM / BSc Nursing)
  • Valid nursing license/registration
  • Experience or training in Cath Lab, ICU, or Cardiac Care Unit (preferred)
  • Certification in BLS and ACLS (required or preferred)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, procedures, and medications
  • Ability to interpret ECG and hemodynamic data
  • Excellent critical thinking and emergency response skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Attention to detail and adherence to sterile technique
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Wear lead apron and follow radiation safety guidelines
  • On-call duties, night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
