Cattle Doctor (Cimarron, KS)
(Mulitple Openings)
Administer treatment in accordance with product labeling: IM, IV, SQ,
orally, etc. (15% of time; daily)
Study and advise on the nutritional requirements of animals and the
nutritive values of animal feed materials. (10% of time; daily)
Identify diseases and causes for concern. Medically treat livestock
according to protocols established by Management and the consulting
veterinarian. Administer treatment in a humane
manner. (10% of time; daily)
Advise on improved products and techniques that could enhance animal
production efforts. (10% of time; daily)
Improve feeding, housing, sanitation, and parasite and disease control
practices in the care of livestock. (10% of time; daily)
Be alert to any environmental, maintenance, or safety issues, and report
them to Management. Advise on upgrading housing for animals, lowering
animal death rates, handling waste
matter, and increasing production.
Control death loss through tracking and accurately reporting deaths, and
advise Management on corrective actions to avoid further losses. Advise
on how to increase growth rates and
improve the quality and efficiency of livestock. (7% of time; daily)
Legibly record tag number, lot number, hospital number, withdrawal
dates, and treatment administered to each animal; manage computer
database consisting of tag numbers, lot
numbers, hospital numbers, withdrawal dates, and treatments. (5% of
time; daily)
Keep accurate medicine inventory by recording quantities used and
physically counting remaining supplies. Recommend vaccinations. (5% of
time; daily)
Supervise processors and Doctoring Crews by ensuring they understand
their responsibilities and maintain their schedules. (5% of time; daily
or weekly)
Maintain cleanliness and a neat appearance of the Hospital, Processing
Barn, and Horse Barn. (3% of time; daily)
Operate Turnkey Vet System. (2% of time; daily)
Schedule and direct the Reimplant Program. Select animals for breeding.
(2% of time; daily)
Internally examine dead animals to determine cause of death. Advise on
how to lower mortality rates and improve parasite and disease control.
(1% of time; daily)
Direct movement of cattle to and from the Hospital.
