Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Ranch Manager to oversee the daily operations of our ranch. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in agriculture and animal husbandry, with the ability to manage both staff and resources effectively. This role requires hands-on experience with farm machinery, animal care, and maintenance tasks, ensuring that the ranch operates smoothly and efficiently. The role comes with a house on one of the ranches - it is preferred that the manager live on site in company housing. This job is for the person that wants to live the cowboy lifestyle.

Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate daily ranch activities, including livestock care, fence maintenance, road maintenance, equipment maintenance/operation, and various other ranch related activities.
  • Oversee animal husbandry practices, ensuring the health and well-being of all animals on the ranch.
  • Manage the operation of farm machinery and heavy equipment, including excavators, skid steers, water trucks and irrigation systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment, performing necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Utilize mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and repairing equipment as needed.
  • Implement effective growing practices for crops and rangeland.
  • Train and supervise staff in proper animal handling techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records related to livestock health, crop yields, and equipment usage for different herds on various ranches.
  • Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations and best practices.

Experience

  • Proven experience in supervising teams within an agricultural or ranching environment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Background in animal husbandry, including equine experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with farming practices, including heavy lifting requirements and operating heavy machinery.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and performing welding tasks as necessary.
  • Basic math skills for managing inventory and tracking production metrics.
