Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Drug and Counseling Assistant (CDCA) to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will support licensed clinicians in delivering comprehensive mental health and addiction services to diverse populations. Your work will involve engaging with patients through individual and group therapy, conducting assessments, and assisting with crisis intervention efforts. Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed clinicians in conducting patient intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning.
  • Support the delivery of evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
  • Participate in crisis management by implementing de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies for patients experiencing acute distress or trauma-related symptoms.
  • Document patient interactions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on mental health, addiction recovery, PTSD care, and family dynamics.
  • Collect data for research purposes, track treatment progress, and assist with clinical documentation including ICD coding (ICD-9/10) and CPT coding for billing purposes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop case management plans that address social determinants of health and community care needs.

Skills

  • Strong background in psychotherapy techniques, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Experience in child & family counseling, addiction counseling, and behavioral health services.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and HIPAA compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in patient assessment methods, diagnostic evaluation tools, and behavioral management techniques.
  • Familiarity with home & community care environments as well as hospital settings for comprehensive patient support.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations effectively while maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging patients across individual or group therapy sessions; adept at data collection and documentation accuracy.
