Duties

• Deliver engaging classroom instruction on truck driving techniques, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on manual transmission operation
• Conduct hands-on training sessions in real-world driving environments, guiding students through shifting gears, maneuvering, and handling tractor-trailers safely
• Assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to enhance their skills and confidence
• Ensure all training activities adhere to federal and state transportation regulations, including air brake and tanker endorsement requirements
• Maintain detailed records of student performance, attendance, and progress reports
• Prepare students for licensing exams by reinforcing key concepts and practical skills necessary for commercial driver’s license (CDL) certification
• Promote a positive learning environment that encourages questions, active participation, and continuous improvement

Experience

• Proven experience operating tractor-trailers with manual transmissions in a commercial setting
• Valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements such as air brake and tanker (preferred)
• Extensive knowledge of truck driving safety standards, including air brake systems and tanker operations
• Prior teaching or adult education experience is highly desirable; classroom experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of commercial driving regulations and compliance requirements
• Demonstrated ability to instruct adult learners effectively in both classroom and practical settings
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide students toward success
