Responsibilities
- Safely operate different types of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, and specialized glass-delivery vehicles to transport glass and aluminum products efficiently.
- Load and unload fragile cargo using appropriate equipment, such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper padding, bracing, and securing of glass sheets and aluminum extrusions.
- Follow designated routes and schedules diligently to meet delivery deadlines for construction sites and shops while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and glass racks to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before and after each trip.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, inspection reports, and route documentation for compliance purposes.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery status or any unforeseen delays or issues during transit.
- Assist with loading or unloading freight when required, especially for specialized cargo such as oversized glass units or heavy aluminum bundles.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements suitable for operating tractor-trailers, flatbeds, or specialized glass-hauling equipment.
- Proven experience in truck driving, including route driving and delivery operations; prior experience with glass or construction material handling is highly valued.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles; familiarity with various truck types, including those equipped with external glass racks, is preferred.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or other equipment; knowledge of load securement standards for fragile and heavy loads is essential.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety; strong knowledge of traffic laws and regulations governing commercial vehicles.
- Physical ability to handle long hours on the road, including lifting heavy glass and aluminum components when necessary.
- Willingness to work extended hours if required.
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
