Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable CDL Driver to join our team. In this vital role, this professional will be responsible to safely, efficiently, and courteously provide waste removal services to customers across multiple lines of business.
This individual is responsible for transporting waste materials from customer sites to appropriate post-collection facilities for proper disposal. This role includes hauling broken concrete to our concrete plant facilities. Responsible for delivering construction aggregates to customer job sites, ensuring that materials are delivered safely, on time, and in the correct quantities.
Dump Truck Duties
- Drive heavy-duty trucks (e.g., dump trucks, flatbeds) to deliver aggregates such as gravel, sand, crushed stone, and other construction materials to job sites.
- Verify orders before dispatch and ensure the correct materials are loaded and delivered in specified quantities.
- Communicate with customers at delivery sites to ensure satisfaction and handle on-site adjustments or special requirements.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe driving practices.
- Perform daily inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels.
- Plan efficient delivery routes based on traffic conditions, delivery priorities, and distance to minimize delays and fuel costs.
- Report any maintenance issues or repairs needed for the truck or equipment to the management team.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials (sometimes with the help of a helper or crane) while ensuring all safety precautions are followed.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including delivery logs, fuel records, and inspection reports.
- Keep in touch with dispatch to confirm delivery status and changes in route or schedule.
Roll-Off Duties
- Operate roll-off truck and ancillary equipment to collect waste.
- Safely operate roll-off trucks, including front loader, rear loader, dump trucks, flatbeds, and tractor-trailers, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload waste containers using manual lifting techniques or mechanical equipment such as front loader trucks and roll-off trucks
- Transport waste materials to designated disposal or recycling facilities with precision and care
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring proper functioning.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, daily truck reports, route sheets, and load documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Operate truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks such as roll-off trucks, front loaders, rear loaders, dump trucks, flatbeds, or tractor-trailers
- Mechanical knowledge of truck systems including manual transmissions and hydraulic equipment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely during loading and unloading processes
- Strong understanding of safe driving practices for commercial vehicles under various road conditions
- Delivery driver experience preferred with a focus on waste management or construction materials
- Use of personal smartphones will be necessary for completing electronic documents.
- Personal GPS systems is useful to ensure which routes to safely use and be more time efficient
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and clients effectively
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Physical stamina to handle long hours on the road and manual tasks involved in loading/unloading.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and customers (Spanish a plus)
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Apply common sense reasoning to carry out uninvolved written and/or oral instructions and to solve general problems
- Ability to work under limited supervision
Physical/Mental Demands
- Be able to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance
- Use of hands and fingers, talk, hear, and smell
- Ability to adjust focus due to the constant maneuvering of vehicle in tight and high traffic areas
- Regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
Working Conditions
- Work in outdoor environment up to 100% of the time
- Frequently exposed to loud noise
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
