CDL Recruiting & Business Development Coordinator Turquoise Trucking – Cedar Rapids, IA

Turquoise Trucking is seeking a motivated and professional full-time team member to lead CDL driver recruiting, onboarding, orientation coordination, and business development efforts from our Cedar Rapids, Iowa office.

This position combines recruiting, safety coordination, driver onboarding, and transportation sales development into one growth-focused role within a rapidly expanding trucking and logistics company specializing in high-care freight operations.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will:

  • Recruit and screen qualified CDL drivers
  • Coordinate driver onboarding and orientation processes
  • Work closely with the Safety Department regarding driver qualification and compliance
  • Build relationships with potential and existing customers
  • Conduct cold calls and in-person visits to generate trucking and logistics business opportunities
  • Help strengthen company culture, driver retention, and operational growth

This is an in-house office position based in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Compensation Structure Base Salary + Bonus and Commissions

Based on experience, recruiting background, sales ability, and transportation industry knowledge.

Performance Bonus Opportunities Driver Recruiting Bonuses Paid after driver remains active for 90 days:

  • Company Driver Hire:
  • $250 per successful hire
  • Owner Operator Hire:
  • $350 per successful hire

Sales / Customer Development Bonuses Direct Customer Acquisition Bonus

  • Percentage-based commission on newly developed direct customer revenue

Performance Incentives

Additional quarterly performance bonuses may be available based on:

  • Driver retention
  • Recruiting performance
  • Customer growth
  • Operational organization
  • Overall contribution to company growth

Responsibilities

Driver Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Recruit qualified CDL-A drivers and owner operators
  • Review applications, PSPs, MVRs, and work history
  • Coordinate with Safety Department for driver approval
  • Schedule and manage orientation process
  • Assist with onboarding paperwork and compliance tracking

Sales & Business Development

  • Conduct cold calls to potential customers
  • Visit existing and prospective customer accounts weekly
  • Develop relationships with manufacturers, brokers, and shippers
  • Promote Turquoise Trucking’s transportation and warehousing services
  • Help expand direct customer freight opportunities

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Maintain recruiting records and communication logs
  • Support driver retention initiatives
  • Help maintain a professional and organized recruiting process

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Transportation, recruiting, or sales experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Professional attitude and customer service mindset
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • Familiarity with trucking operations is strongly preferred

CDL or prior trucking industry experience is a major plus.
