CDL Swing Driver - Roll Off & Front Load

Schedule: Monday–Friday (occasional Saturdays offered)
Pay: Competitive hourly wage based on experience, plus overtime opportunities

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused CDL Swing Driver to join our waste operations team in Charleston, South Carolina. This position serves as a versatile driver responsible for covering routes and operating both Roll-Off and Front Load refuse trucks as needed. The ideal candidate is adaptable, dependable, and committed to providing excellent service while maintaining safe driving practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate Roll-Off and Front Load trucks safely and efficiently on assigned routes.
• Provide route coverage for drivers who are absent, on vacation, or assigned to other duties.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required documentation.
• Safely collect, transport, and dispose of waste and recyclable materials.
• Navigate commercial and industrial service locations throughout the tri-county area.
• Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and management.
• Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
• Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate route, service, and inspection records.
• Assist with other operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or Class B CDL with a clean driving record.
• Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
• Previous experience operating Roll-Off and/or Front Load trucks preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
• Ability to read route information, complete paperwork, and use onboard technology.
• Must pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to enter and exit the truck cab multiple times throughout the day.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to bend, climb, walk, and perform physical tasks associated with waste collection operations.
