Celebration Cake Designer

***MUST HAVE A CAKE PORTFOLIO TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH TIERED CAKE DECORATING.

Cara Mia Baking Co. is a patisserie/cafe in Lomita, CA. We are a scratch kitchen, use only the highest quality ingredients, with focus on innovative pastry, cakes, and drink production for the coffee bar. We also specialize in excellent vegan and gluten-free pastry for those interested in alternative techniques and ingredients.

Candidate must have experience with cake assembly and decorating. Portfolio required at the time of interview.

Job Duties and Qualifications:

• Production: cakes, custards, buttercream, simple syrups, ganache
• Assembly: able to take direction and follow proper steps in final assembly of all desserts and cakes
• Decorating: must be willing and able to decorate celebration cakes
• Knowledge of operating kitchen equipment
• Basic mathematical skills, i.e.: ability to do basic conversions
• Must be able to work 8 hour shifts on your feet
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Current Food Handler Permit
• Available early mornings (5AM shifts) and weekends

Ideal Candidates:

• Experienced pastry cook at least 1 year preferred (Pastry or Culinary diploma/certificate a plus)
• Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks and challenging situations
• Time management and organization
• Attention to detail, ability to multitask, efficient
• Positive attitude
• Works well as part of a team
• Ability to work cleanly with knowledge of safe food handling

Compensation: DOE
