Tampa Bay Newspapers is seeking a full-time bilingual (English/Spanish) journalist to help head up coverage for our Spanish language publication, CENTRO Tampa.
We are seeking a self-motivated journalist who has a desire to become embedded in the Tampa Bay Hispanic community and help give it a voice by telling its stories.
The ideal candidate would have writing, editing and multimedia experience.
Responsibilities:
• Translate copy from English to Spanish quickly and accurately.
• Edit stories with clarity and speed.
• Write at least two stories each week.
• Work collaboratively with editors to orchestrate coverage for a weekly print edition.
• Regularly update and generate content for our website and social media platforms.
• Use news judgment to make story decisions that are appropriate for the audience.
Requirements:
• A college degree in journalism and experience at a newspaper.
• Editing experience is preferred, but journalists without past formal editing duties will be considered.
• Knowledge of AP style and grammar.
• Experience using a website CMS.
• Photography and multimedia skills are a plus.
• Ability to work occasional weekends.

It is an independent affiliate of the Tampa Bay Times. This is a position with flexible hours that will include a combination of writing, editing and design. Some weekend work would likely be needed.
