POSITION TITLE:

Cerner Lights On Specialist (EHR Data Optimization Consultant)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Deep Mile provides Workflow Adoption, Standardization, and Optimization support for MHS GENESIS, the new Electronic Health Record (EHR) for Military Health System (MHS). EHR Workflow Adoption / Standardization / Optimization Consultant will provide support to senior leadership at Department of Defense (DOD) Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) to ensure the sites are equipped to champion the product, provide quality patient care, and propagate the use of the new system. This position is responsible for evaluating the data available through the EHR system and developing approaches to analyze that data and drive meaningful results to be shared with the end users to drive adoption and change. The scope of services goes beyond the high-level system and requires engagement at the clinical and revenue cycle workflow level. This position is also responsible for guiding and supporting workflow processes, optimization activities, actively monitoring data and performance, identifying, and analyzing improvement opportunities, comparing metrics to industry best practices, development and managing interventions for implementation and measuring the effectiveness of opportunities after implementation.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

At least 10% travel required (within and outside Continental U.S.)

RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Actively monitor data and performance, identify and analyze improvement opportunities, develop, and manage interventions for implementation and measure the effectiveness of opportunities after implementation.
  • Design and develop strategies to utilize available data in a meaningful format that can be utilized by end users.
  • Design approaches to share data in the form of dashboards or reports with various groups of end users across the enterprise.
  • Establish capabilities to share “lessons learned”.
  • Participate in regular day-to-day communication with other EHR project teams and work with vendors as well as other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure the application workflow build will fit the organizations integration needs based on data analytics.
  • Anticipate and identify complex clinical and business processes and informatics issues; monitor and measure risk factors; and develop Courses of Action. Communicate risk factors and Courses of Action to informatics leadership and stakeholders. Ensure continuous quality control of processes and deliverables.
  • Effectively use, interpret, apply, and communicate data and information from multiple sources, affecting EHR programs. Data sources include financial reports, clinical and service quality data, human resource data, and external sources. Effectively interpret changes in key indicators and direct key stakeholders in applying information to changes at the MTF level.
  • Analyze, liaise, and engage working groups to establish interventions for successful outcomes based on metrics.
  • Consult with executives and mid-level managers, create and enhance artifacts and materials relevant to the mission, and lead tasks, small consulting teams and consulting projects from inception through execution.
  • Assess and determine compliance to clinical and revenue cycle workflows leveraging data analysis, qualitative feedback, and direct observation. Perform analytics on appropriate metrics to monitor end-user, management, and enterprise compliance to processes, rules, and policies. Make recommendations on metrics, system, and workflow enhancements to improve compliance with system and business processes, rules, and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Level degree required. Informatics degree preferred.
  • Clinical background and experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with Cerner Millennium specifically with tools such as Light On Network and Discern.
  • 5 years of SQL or CCL experience. Professional experience in the Millennium Information Model that consists of CCL (Cerner Command Language).
  • Experience querying a database and create data sets.
  • Must have experience with EHR Data Analytics.
  • Prior experience with analyzing business processes and information management needs of medical organizations.
  • Prior DOD experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MHS GENESIS and/or Oracle Cerner Millennium preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Must be fluent in verbal and written English and English medical terminology.

US Citizenship Required - Candidate will need to obtain a DoD Public Trust Clearance.

Required to travel to local or other non-local locations.
