Job Overview

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during a wide range of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready.
  • Take and develop X-ray images using advanced medical imaging equipment while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Epic to ensure accurate documentation of patient histories and treatment plans.
  • Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures.
  • Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Support the front desk team as a dental receptionist by managing appointments, patient check-ins, and medical documentation.
  • Utilize 3D scanners and other digital tools for precise diagnostics and treatment planning.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology, medical coding, and medical records management to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
  • Uphold HIPAA standards by safeguarding patient information at all times.
  • Collaborate with the team in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency and patient experience.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic or healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes.
  • Experience with pediatric dentistry, including working with children’s specific needs and behaviors.
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
  • Competence in chairside assisting during various dental procedures including endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry treatments.
  • Certification as a Dental Assistant from an accredited program is required; additional certifications in medical coding or digital imaging are advantageous.

Pay: From $26.00 per hour
