Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during a wide range of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready.
- Take and develop X-ray images using advanced medical imaging equipment while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Epic to ensure accurate documentation of patient histories and treatment plans.
- Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to prevent cross-contamination.
- Support the front desk team as a dental receptionist by managing appointments, patient check-ins, and medical documentation.
- Utilize 3D scanners and other digital tools for precise diagnostics and treatment planning.
- Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology, medical coding, and medical records management to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
- Uphold HIPAA standards by safeguarding patient information at all times.
- Collaborate with the team in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency and patient experience.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry, including working with children’s specific needs and behaviors.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Competence in chairside assisting during various dental procedures including endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry treatments.
- Certification as a Dental Assistant from an accredited program is required; additional certifications in medical coding or digital imaging are advantageous.
