Duties

  • Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring optimal patient comfort and safety.
  • Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, temporary restorations, and other duties permitted under state licensure to increase treatment efficiency.
  • Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment using aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Measure vital signs and medical history documentation to support comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following infection control protocols and OSHA regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry practices to deliver seamless patient care efficiently.
  • Understand and utilize dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing processes.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Valid certification as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) with current licensure in the state of practice.
  • Proven experience in general dentistry.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; familiarity with medical records management is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and dental assisting best practices.
  • Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision and safety.
  • Strong understanding of dental procedures across specialties like prosthodontics and endodontics.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 – 40.0 per week
