Lifeguard
Lifeguards primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of patrons at Edsall Park Swim Club, a self managed pool, by preventing and responding to emergencies. Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing all pool rules fairly and consistently and maintaining a clean and enjoyable aquatics facility and a friendly atmosphere.

Operators also ensure proper pool water chemicals and record keeping and can enjoy leadership opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Lifeguards must be able to work daily, including evenings and weekends throughout the Summer. Lifeguards must conduct themselves in a professional manner and must be reliable, attentive and focused. Lifeguards must have or be willing to obtain a current Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certificates.

Operators must have or be willing to obtain the Fairfax County Pool Operators certificate.

Lifeguards will not be granted more than 21 days of time off during a 3 month period.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs all lifeguard responsibilities including monitoring pool activities, applying first aid and performing water rescues, as necessary.
• Keeps the Board well informed of pool maintenance needs including cleaning, chemical adjustments and repairs.
• Responsible for taking chemical readings while on duty and adjusting as necessary.
• Keeps accurate logs of chemical readings and assists the Board with fielding concerns, problems or other issues from the membership.
• Assists the Board with daily supervision of the pool.
• Checking members in, answering the phone and interacting with the public.
• Working as a team
• Stocking bathrooms and cleaning surfaces
• Vacuuming the pool, netting debris and emptying skimmers

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
