Certified Medical Assistant

Job Overview

Duties

  • Perform patient intake procedures including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately.
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with precision.
  • Assist with clinical tasks across various specialties including dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, and emergency medicine.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
  • Support medical documentation by updating Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently and accurately.
  • Administer medications and injections following established protocols while maintaining patient safety standards.
  • Conduct basic diagnostic tests such as X-ray imaging or other outpatient procedures as required.
  • Assist with hospital-based care including inpatient units, Level I and Level II trauma centers, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and OR (Operating Room) settings.
  • Support emergency medicine teams by providing timely assistance during urgent situations or Level I trauma responses.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations by adhering to medical terminology standards, ICD coding practices, and physiology knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Valid certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program is required.
  • Proven experience working in outpatient clinics, hospital environments, or specialized units such as ICU or Geriatrics.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient assessment.
  • Experience with EHR systems for documentation and patient record management.
  • Ability to perform clinical tasks including vital signs measurement, medication administration, and basic diagnostic procedures like X-ray imaging.
  • Familiarity with hospital medicine practices, urgent care protocols, and emergency medicine procedures preferred.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as ICD coding or advanced life support are advantageous.
  • Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations across outpatient and inpatient settings.
