Certified Medical Assistant

Full Time CMA Position for Busy Multi-Specialist Clinic, located in Burlington, NC.

We are currently seeking patient-focused individuals for a Certified Medical Assistant to support our Cardiology Department. This position would be located at the Burlington Kernodle Clinic location. Experience preferred but not required. EPIC experience not required, but a preferred plus. Schedule would be Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

All candidates must be graduates of an accredited MA program, and possess a current CMA certification, preferably through AAMA or AMT. BLS certification through AHA required.

Job Type: Full-time

Duties Include, but not limited to the following:

Takes medical histories and records vital signs, explains treatment procedures to patients, and prepares patients for examinations and procedures.
Plans, provides, and documents professional medical assisting care utilizing the medical assisting process, in accordance with physician/APP orders and established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the department manager.
Promptly and accurately completes initial assessment including taking / recording weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and pain assessment. Asks chief complaint for visit, and updates allergies and medications in EPIC. Notes abnormal conditions. Collects and analyzes patient data, documents and communicates appropriately medical assisting actions taken and patient responses of the actions taken.
Concisely document all patient related calls, orders, and transactions in the medical record.
When providing direct patient care, including patient related telephone conversations, employees use double identifiers to ensure right patient every time.
Other clinical support responsibilities include disposing of contaminated supplies, instrument processing, high level disinfection and sterilization of medical instruments, telephoning prescriptions to a pharmacy, preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician, and authorizing drug refills as directed.
