Job Description: Certified Medical Assistant (In-Person)

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate is patient-centered, dependable, and committed to delivering high-quality clinical and administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of our practice.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

Welcome and prepare patients for exams, procedures, and consultations.

Obtain and document medical histories and patient concerns.

Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.

Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.

Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the provider (in accordance with certification).

Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and basic laboratory tests.

Maintain exam rooms, medical supplies, and the sterilization of equipment.

Follow infection-control, clinical protocols, and safety standards.

Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medication administration protocols.

Strong patient service skills with a focus on compassionate care in diverse populations.

Administrative Duties:

Coordinate patient scheduling, follow-up appointments, and ensure timely communication of test results or treatment instructions.

Maintain a high standard of patient service by demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and clear communication throughout every interaction.

Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient information and treatment plans.

Process forms, referrals, and prior authorizations.

Verify insurance and assist with billing documentation as needed.

Support medical administrative tasks such as ICD coding for billing purposes and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.

Communicate clearly with patients regarding instructions, follow-ups, and care plans.

Qualifications:

An active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited program is required.

Current BLS/CPR certification required.

Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred

Phlebotomy experience required.

Front-desk and back-office experience

Strong communication skills and a warm, professional demeanor.

Proficiency with EMR systems preferred.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Spanish-speaking needed

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25–30 lbs as needed.
• Ability to assist patients with mobility when required.
