Certified Medical Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, multi-tasking Medical Assistant to join our non-surgical pain management practice. This role supports providers in delivering high-quality patient care to indiciduals being treated for acute and chronic pain conditions. The Medical Assistant will assist with clinical workflows, patient intake, documentation, coordination of care and administrative support in a fast-paced outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs with precision.
  • Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during office visits and procedures as needed, ensuring comfort, and maintaining a professional bedside manner.
  • Operate EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems efficiently to document patient information, ICD coding, medication administration, and procedural notes accurately.
  • Support medical administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and managing patient flow within outpatient clinics.
  • Monitor patient status by checking vital signs regularly; escalate concerns promptly to the healthcare team.
  • Assist with medication administration under supervision when required; support emergency responses in urgent care or trauma settings.
  • Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control standards; assist in inventory management of supplies and medications.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliant and uphold patient confidentialiy at all times.

Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical Assistant certification
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office required; pain management, orthopedics, primary care experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medications, and clinical documentation.
  • Experience the EMR systems and general computer proficiency.
  • Familiar with insurance verification, prior authorizations and prescription workflows preferred
  • Excellent communication, organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced outpatient environment
  • Professional demeanor with strong attention to detail and compassion for patients with chronic pain.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in pain management or medication management
  • Understanding of controlled medication policies and prescription monitoring workflows
  • Knowledge of urine drug screening protocols and compliance procedures
  • Strong team collaboration and patient service skills
