Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort
- Support physicians with clinical tasks such as administering medications, POC testing
- Maintain accurate documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including ICD coding and detailed patient notes
- Support medical administrative functions like scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and processing referrals, prior authorizations
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards across all clinical activities
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program
- Proven experience in family medicine, internal medicine,hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine preferred
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology essential for effective patient care
- Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) certification and emergency response procedures confidently
- Familiarity with EHR systems for accurate documentation and coding practices including ICD coding
- Hands-on experience with clinical procedures like veniopunctures, covid, flu, strep, pregnancy test, urineanalysis or medication administration in outpatient or inpatient settings
- Strong communication skills to provide excellent patient service and support diverse healthcare teams
- Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments such as urgent care clinics or hospital units including Geriatrics, Family practice
