Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient intake, including gathering medical histories and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with precision and care
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures in outpatient, inpatient, or emergency medicine settings
  • Support physicians during procedures, including medication administration and basic X-ray operations when qualified
  • Conduct basic physiology and anatomy assessments to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Manage medical documentation, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure accurate billing and records
  • Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, explaining treatments, and ensuring comfort throughout visits
  • Support hospital medicine units such as ICU or Geriatrics with specialized clinical tasks as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization standards in clinical areas like OR or PICU environments
  • Assist with emergency medicine protocols at Level I or Level II trauma centers when required

Qualifications

  • Valid certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program; prior experience in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or medical-surgical units is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration techniques
  • Experience working with EHR systems and managing patient intake processes efficiently
  • Ability to perform vital signs collection accurately in outpatient or inpatient settings including Geriatrics or PICU environments
  • Familiarity with hospital experience including Level I or Level II trauma centers is advantageous
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as X-ray operation or OR experience are a plus
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence in diverse clinical environments
