Certified Medical Assistant and Scribe

Overview:
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Certified Medical Assistant and Scribe, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and streamline clinical workflows. In this vital, dual-role position, you will serve as a frontline healthcare professional—providing hands-on clinical support while accurately documenting patient encounters in real time.

Our fast-paced family practice clinic offers a diverse scope of services, including primary care, weight loss management, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and medication-assisted treatment (Suboxone). Your energetic, proactive approach will help create a positive patient experience while supporting providers across a wide range of clinical and procedural services.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Medical Assistant Duties:

  • Perform patient intake, including vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during visits
  • Assist with in-office procedures, including:
  • Pap smears
  • Joint injections
  • Pellet insertions (hormone therapy)
  • Administer medications and injections as directed
  • Perform phlebotomy and collect lab specimens
  • Prepare and sterilize exam rooms, instruments, and equipment
  • Monitor patient condition during routine and urgent visits

Scribing & Documentation:

  • Accurately document patient encounters in real time using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Record HPI, ROS, physical exams, assessments, and treatment plans
  • Apply appropriate ICD coding and ensure detailed, compliant documentation
  • Assist with chart preparation and maintain up-to-date medical records

Administrative & Care Coordination:

  • Order labs, imaging, and referrals per provider instructions
  • Track and follow up on lab and imaging results
  • Triage patient calls, messages, and walk-in concerns appropriately
  • Assist with prescription refills, prior authorizations, and patient communication
  • Coordinate care for both outpatient and specialty services

Patient Support & Education:

  • Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
  • Support patients enrolled in:
  • Weight loss programs
  • Hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
  • Suboxone (buprenorphine) treatment programs
  • Promote adherence to care plans and overall wellness

Clinical Support & Safety:

  • Maintain medical supplies and ensure exam rooms are fully stocked
  • Follow infection control protocols and clinic safety standards
  • Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) readiness and respond appropriately in urgent situations

Qualifications:

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant required
  • Previous experience as a medical scribe strongly preferred
  • Proven experience in family practice, outpatient clinics, urgent care, or hospital settings
  • Proficiency with EHR systems, documentation, and order entry
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
  • Experience assisting with procedures (e.g., injections, minor procedures); hormone therapy or similar experience preferred
  • Excellent multitasking, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in weight loss management, hormone therapy, or medication-assisted treatment (Suboxone)
  • Experience in dermatology, geriatrics, emergency medicine, or medical-surgical settings
  • Familiarity with imaging, lab workflows, or procedural support
  • Prior experience in high-acuity or fast-paced environments

Certifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Additional clinical certifications are a plus

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
