Duties

  • Perform clinical tasks including taking vital signs, patient intake, and assisting with procedures such as X-ray imaging and medication administration.
  • Support patient care by documenting medical histories, updating electronic health record (EHR) systems, and coding diagnoses using ICD standards.
  • Assist physicians during dermatology consultations, surgical procedures, and inpatient or outpatient treatments across various specialties like geriatrics, internal medicine, or PICU.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort throughout visits.
  • Support emergency medicine teams by preparing patients for treatment in trauma or urgent care settings and assisting with basic life support when necessary.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital environments including Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers to ensure seamless patient flow and documentation accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant credential from an accredited program is required.
  • Prior experience in dermatology clinics or hospital medicine is highly preferred; familiarity with outpatient and inpatient settings is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
  • Experience working with EHR systems and proficiency in medical administrative support tasks.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory; additional certifications such as X-ray operation or OR experience are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform clinical procedures like vital signs measurement, specimen collection, and assisting with X-ray imaging.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence; ability to work effectively within fast-paced healthcare environments including emergency medicine or geriatrics.
