POSITION SUMMARY:

A non-exempt position is responsible for performing clinical and specific administrative duties under the direction of a physician.

Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent.
Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required.

Newly graduated medical assistants must have taken and passed their certification examination through the Certifying Board of American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or a National Certifying Organization from the American Association of Medical Assistants.

Previous OB/GYN experience preferred.
Current CPR/BLS certification required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room

Arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment

Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history in EHR; taking vital signs; completes EHR by recording patient examination (height and weight), confirming purpose of visit or treatment.

Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations

Procedures; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises, including microscopy; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; drawing blood; removing sutures; changing dressings, and performs NST’s

Educates patients by information and instructions; answering questions, treatment, and test result

General duties - Fulfills organizational obligations efficiently as assigned, which may include, but is not limited to: responding appropriately to emergencies; working as a team member; recognizes problems with patients, staff, or operations and works effectively as a team member to resolve the problem; keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential; protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.

KNOWLEDGE:

· Medicine - Knowledge of basic information and techniques for diagnosing and treating low-level obstetrical and gynecological problems as directed by the physician.
· Clerical - Knowledge of basic administrative and clerical procedures, word processing, and other office procedures and terminology.
· Regulations - Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and confidentiality regulations, OSHA, and other applicable state or federal regulations.
· Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.66 - $26.08 per hour
