Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Bilingual

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Back Office Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting patient care within our facility. This position involves assisting healthcare professionals in providing high-quality medical care, ensuring that patients receive the attention and support they need for their visits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Assist physician as needed to provide efficient quality patient care.

· Perform quality patient care as directed/instructed within the MA’s scope of practice.

· Education for patients and/or their families and caregivers within the MA’s knowledge base for commonly used medications, disease processes and/or surgeries and procedures for this organization.

· Patient assessment and preparation for the physician and/or PA.

· Assist with physician’s orders to other departments/areas.

· Review and understand the Organization’s policies.

· Greet all patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.

· Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver’s license, authorizations, and referrals.

· Refer patients to Financial Counselor regarding past due balances and for insurance questions and/or resolutions.

· Print clinic schedules and prepare for next day’s clinic.

· Inform patient of privacy policies and procedures.

· Receive deliveries and notify appropriate personnel.

· Travel to satellite locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Wound and/or incision care as directed by a physician.

· Documentation of patient occurrences, (i.e., wound care, teaching, patient inquiries).

· Refill/Renew patient prescriptions under the direction of the physician.

· Arrange and/or assist with arranging of outside patient care, treatments, diagnostic testing, referrals.

· Assist the physician and/or PA with ICD9/ICD10 and CPT coding for fee tickets.

Review recent procedures/surgeries and ensure patient follow up as needed.

· Provide physician with appropriate and complete information to complete any patient documents as requested by patient, patient’s family and or insurance companies, or other institutions as requested in a timely manner.

· Physician paging for consults, patient inquiries.

· Call list as needed for weekend call physician.

· OR packet completion as needed.

· Review of doctors’ schedules for appropriate appointment types, testing and make changes as necessary.

· Practice within OSHA, CLIA and other applicable standards.

· Prepare and assist with office procedures as needed.

· Communicate concerns/ideas in regard to patient care.

· Act as a patient and physician liaison

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Ability to work as part of a team.

. Must be bilingual

· Ability to function independently with little supervision.

· Knowledge of commonly used medications, medical procedures/surgeries for this patient population.

· Effective interpersonal communication skills.

· Exceptional attention to detail.

· Basic phone and computer skills.

· Ability to learn new tasks in a sufficient amount of time.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

· Certified Medical Assistant

· CPR certified

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.

· Involves some lifting of patients with assistance, moving of patients using a wheelchair or stretcher.

· Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.

· Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.

· Frequently required to talk on the phone.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

· There may be exposure to radiation such as in the form of x-rays.

· Risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens and biohazardous material:

CATEGORY II: Usual tasks do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues but job may require performing unplanned tasks.
