The individual in this position will assist the Health Care Providers in our Prairie du Chien Clinic with providing patient care and performing essential laboratory functions such as specimen processing, test performance, and reporting test results.
Essential Job Functions-
Rooms patients using established protocols, including escorting patients from the waiting area, obtaining vital signs, reviewing and updating the electronic health record (medications, immunizations, and history), and completing accurate documentation.

Administers injectable, oral, inhaled, and topical medications as ordered and documents appropriately in the electronic health record.

Performs clinical duties under the direction of the healthcare provider, including wound care, dressing changes, ear irrigations, spirometry, tympanometry, suture removal, and other procedures within scope of practice.

Assists providers with clinical procedures, including but not limited to laceration repair, cryotherapy, urinary catheterization, AED use, oxygen administration, and general examination support.

Responds to patient phone inquiries by collecting and processing information, coordinating appropriate follow-up, managing prescription refill requests, and communicating lab, imaging, and procedure results.

Maintains inventory, orders supplies, and ensures all equipment is clean and in proper working order.

Uses pre-analytical processes to collect specimens for laboratory testing, including but not limited to phlebotomy, waived laboratory testing, and EKG’s.

Cleans, prepares, and stocks exam rooms prior to daily operations and between patients to ensure a safe and efficient care environment.

Floats to other departments as needed to assist with CMA/LPN-related duties.

Performs clerical and administrative tasks as appropriate.

Education:

CMA - Graduate from a Medical Assistant program: Required

LPN - Graduate from a Nursing program: Required

Certifications & Licenses:

CMA - Certified Medical Assistant certification through American Association of Medical Assistants - May obtain within 6 months of hire.

LPN - Must hold appropriate Licensure and eligible to practice in State of Wisconsin
