OVERVIEW:

This can be one of the most rewarding healthcare jobs you will ever have. We are seeking a highly skilled and emotionally intelligent Medical Assistant to become an integral part of our new Ketamine/Spravato Assisted Therapy (KSAT) team. You will play a key role in administering ketamine treatments, ensuring patient safety and providing high-quality care. This position involves close collaboration with our prescribers, counselors, patients and families, maintaining detailed patient records and creating a safe and supportive environment for our patients.

No prior experience with ketamine is required.You will have an opportunity to learn and become a part of a program and process that is transforming psychiatry and patients' lives. Ketamine/Spravato Assisted Therapy, for most patients will be more effective than any of the current psychiatric medications and treatments for depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use and other psychiatric disorders.

Ketamine has been called “the most important treatment for depression in the last 50 years.” There are thousands of scientific studies that document the safety and effectiveness of Ketamine/Spravato Assisted Treatments.

This new program is provided by Best Fit Counseling and Psychiatry, an Ann Arbor based, provider owned, non corporate group practice with over 40 years of experience delivering innovative, evidence and data based, collaborative outpatient behavioral healthcare from our highly experienced medical and counseling specialists.

Part Time: 10 hrs per week to start. Tuesday and Thursdays ..More hours will be available if interested. Ideal for someone who is retired or anyone looking for part time contractual work that pays more per hour more than most salaried W-2 positions

RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical/Professional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments prior to ketamine treatments based on established screening protocols, complete EHR templates,forms, PA’s
  • Educate patients on the ketamine therapy process, potential side effects, and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Administer medication treatments in accordance with established protocols and medical guidelines,facilitates prescription refills as needed
  • Monitor vital signs and patient response during and after ketamine administration, enter in EHR
  • Create a safe and comfortable environment for patients during their ketamine sessions.
  • Respond promptly to any emergent situations, following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintains strict patient and employee confidentiality in compliance with BFC&P and HIPAA guidelines
  • Stay informed about current developments and research related to ketamine therapy.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an equivalent combination of patient care related education and patient care experience
  • Certificate of Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant course at an accredited institution

Certification/ Experience

  • Certified Medical Assistant - CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, NRCMA, CMAC
  • CPR certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
  • Experience using an EHR for documentation. We are using Osmind and Practice Q)
  • Experience in a clinical setting, preferably in mental health or infusion therapy preferred but not required. .
  • Familiarity with Ketamine/Spravato Assisted Therapy is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and documentation skills.

Minimum Physical Expectations/Worksite Requirements

  • Physical activity that often requires keyboarding, phone work and charting.
  • Physical activity that often requires time working on a computer.
  • Physical activity that often requires assisting patients requiring walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling and/or twisting
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
  • Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face for long periods of time in English.

  • Onsite at our NE Ann Arbor, 5331 Plymouth Rd office
  • COVID-19 vaccinations are required for all onsite staff.
