We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/PRN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in medical procedures, excellent patient service skills, and the ability to adapt to diverse medical environments. This position offers flexible PRN hours for those eager to make a meaningful impact while maintaining a balanced schedule.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake by collecting comprehensive medical histories and verifying insurance information
- Measure and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit
- Support clinical procedures such as medication administration, wound care, X-ray assistance, and basic life support when needed
- Document patient encounters thoroughly in electronic health record (EHR) systems using precise medical terminology and ICD coding
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate efficient patient flow in outpatient clinics or hospital settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers
- Perform basic physiology and anatomy assessments to support diagnosis and treatment planning in specialties like geriatrics, internal medicine, or PICU
- Assist with specimen collection, sample labeling, and preparation for laboratory testing or imaging procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to safety standards and infection control protocols
Skills
- Proven experience in dermatology, urgent care, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine environments
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding practices
- Proficiency with EHR systems for documentation of patient information and clinical notes
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement, medication administration, X-ray assistance, and intake procedures
- Familiarity with inpatient settings including Geriatrics, Medical-surgical units, PICU or OR experience preferred
- Excellent patient service skills with compassionate communication tailored to diverse populations
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or trauma centers are advantageous
- Experience supporting outpatient clinics or hospital-based programs within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly valued
- Knowledge of medical-surgical procedures and internal medicine practices enhances versatility in this role
